The Project
Built in the 1750s and protected with a Listed status, this stunning Georgian farmhouse in the Lincolnshire countryside has been recently renovated by homeowner, Mr Lane.
“We have lived here for 16 years and had considered moving, but there was nothing on the market that was better than this in our opinion, so we decided to stay and carry out a complete renovation, which began in late 2019” Mr Lane comments.
After identifying the windows as an area that needed immediate attention, the Lanes visited their local merchant where they spoke to a trusted contact on who to consider for the right windows for their home and project. They were given 3 names but were advised that Dale Joinery would be the perfect fit provided they fell within the project budget.
“We saw some samples first hand from different companies, and while other options appeared similar, the quality of the Dale Joinery product really stood out” Mr Lane explains.
Given the home’s Listed status, and with it located within a conservation area, the Lanes consulted with their local conservation officer, detailing their vision for the property and the improvements they wished to make to it. After receiving assurances that the Lane’s primary aim was to preserve and improve the house, new, double glazed timber sash windows from Dale were approved.
With a long career in professional construction, Mr Lane had the knowledge and experience to manage all aspects of the project himself, and the result speaks for itself.
“I am so confident that the look of the house has been preserved, and I would challenge anyone to tell that the windows have ever been changed, so good is the match from Dale Joinery” Mr Lane exclaims.
“The old sash windows were often stuck and hard to operate. I am always impressed by how easy the new sashes are to open and I like to show them off to visitors to the house!”
Concluding on his positive experience with Dale Joinery, Mr Lane comments “the Dale service was very impressive from start to finish. The initial visits and quoting were excellent and straight forward; the products all turned up on schedule suitably packed and protected for transport, and everything was correct and ready to fit. I am really, very happy”.
Sash Windows
Throughout the home, traditional timber sash windows in a colour complementary to Farrow & Ball ‘New White’ were specified, featuring 18mm vertical astragal glazing bars, decorative sash horns to the upper and lower sashes, and Polished Chrome sash hardware.
